Whitney Gala
Visual Identity

The process of designing for the Gala at the Whitney Museum of American Art began with creating a “Save the Date,” independent of any visual identity.

However, when I began designing the visual identity I would use across all event materials, I incorporated the vertical sliding that I first established in the Save the Date. I also wanted the Gala identity to feel connected to the 2024 Biennial on view, which had a colorful gradient treatment. Going for a formal aesthetic, I created the gradient out of lines instead of color, and gave it its own animation styling.

I created a printed invitation sent out to all guests. For the event itself, I brought the identity into the Step and Repeat, digital signage, menu, bar signage, program, and wayfinding.
